Online Casinos Versus Las Vegas
August 29th, 2009
When most people think of gambling, they think of going to Vegas. But today you can play online casino games from the comfort of your own home, office, or anywhere your laptop can travel. And the cool thing is, an online casino lets you play with imaginary money instead of cash, so you don’t have to risk losing the shirt off your back!
In Las Vegas, Nevada, you don’t get second chances and you don’t get time to practice. Your money is on the line and at risk from the moment you start to play. With online casinos, you can participate in all the games using play money so nothing is at risk. Then, when you feel confident, you can put real money into an account and start making real bets if you desire.
You can play all kinds of online casino games, just like the ones you play in Vegas. Whether it is Texas Hold’em, Blackjack, Slots or Craps, you can play them at an online casino. Many players like to go to Vegas to be a part of the atmosphere. There are many other players that enjoy the comfort of playing poker in their own homes. It doesn’t involve any extra travel expense and you can gamble as little or as much as you like. With your personal computer, you can play online casino games 24 hours a day, if you want to.
Another great thing about playing in an online casino is that many times they offer freerolls for actual money. These games typically have a lot of players to start with, but if you are a good poker player, you can win seats to higher money games, or actual cash to fund your real money account.
At an online casino, players typically make a natural progression from playing with imaginary money to trying out the freerolls and then actually betting real currency. This is a nice advantage over Vegas. With online casino games, you can also sometimes take advantage of opportunities to play and win cash without a financial investment at all. That’s another feature you won’t find in Vegas.
There are many people that have become good poker players and have now decided to make poker their career and they have simply learned to play using the online casino games and have never traveled except for money tournaments they have won a seat for. Sometimes, these tournaments are held in Vegas, but that is the first time that many poker pros have been there that learned to play at an online casino.
Poker is easy to learn online. Most of the online casinos have tutorials or features that teach you how to play their gambling games, and poker is just one of those you can learn. And the best part is, using play money, you won’t risk a cent while you learn-even if you lose-like you would in Vegas.
Still, Vegas is an avid gambler’s dream destination, and if you play poker a lot, you’ll probably want to do it in Vegas at least once in your life, just to experience the noise and the intensity of the place. It’s a little different playing live and in person than online-since you have to decide what chips you want to throw in the middle and actually do it. But in many ways it is similar to what you learned online.
When it comes to Vegas Vs the online casino, there are many advantages to the online casino games and once you have perfected them, you may find yourself trying your luck in Vegas!
