The Christian That Is Two Faced

It is unfortunate that many Christians are not the same people at home as they are at church.
When with believers, the average Christian has it all together. He shows a passion and a desire for relationship with God and other people, an amazing insight into what it means to know God and His word.
Outside of church, it is a completely different story. Lying and cheating are commonplace. Greed and infidelity are in style. It is however fascinating that the lying, cheating Christian puts forth a great effort to cover this part of his life. He makes sure that those in his church community don’t see this part of his life.
How can Christians live such double lives? First and foremost it is because of the human’s ability to be deceptive. People who have committed heinous crimes were not caught because they were able to deceive society into believing they are normal folks. It is frightening to find out that even family members of of some criminals had no idea about the fact that these persons committed murder and other horrible crimes.
Such killers were indulging a fantasy while living in the real world because of how well they were able to deceive everyone.
The second factor of the double life Christian has to do with the evil human heart. God condemns sinful actions even if we only commit them in the heart.
In the sermon on the Mount Jesus illustrated this point by saying: You have heard that it was said to the people long ago,’Do not murder,’ . . . But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment(Matt. 5:21-22).
Imagine, I can consider myself good for not committing a crime but by getting mad at the people close to me I am not much different than someone living a double life, and will be rewarded for doing what a killer does.
Anger paralyzes us, as it seems to overpower us to do the regrettable. We snap at our spouse or children without realizing that they are being caused pain. Afterward we are stuck trying to fix a difficult situation.
We must come to the understanding that the things played out in our heart and our mind, are the same as the actions themselves, in the sight of God.
One’s tendency toward murder in our heart makes us double Christians even if on the exterior we seem to be nice.

Weather forecast alters sports day
November 15th, 2008
Due to the forecast of bad weather for Saturday, the state cross country championships at Holmdel Park, as well as West Windsor-Plainsboro South’s opening round game in the Central Jersey Group IV playoffs have been moved to Sunday. The cross country meet will follow the original schedule, with everything pushed back a day.
