Portland Makes Run for Success
August 26th, 2009
Everyone believes that as the NBA defending champions, the Los Angeles Lakers are the team to beat. Having acquired Richard Jefferson, the Spurs come behind the Lakers, and it’s a free for all after that.
Having signed veteran point guard Andre Miller, things are looking good in Portland. A young team gets a steady hand at the point guard position, and some veteran experience to season the many young talents in Portland. Does this mean that Portland can contend with the big boys next year? Let’s see.
How about Greg Oden’s effectiveness? He missed the entire first season with a knee injury, and had some injury issues to deal with last season, but was pretty effective when healthy and his skills progressed rapidly.
Most critics will say that one should expect Oden to miss significant chunks of every season of his career, but time will tell about Oden’s state. Regardless, Oden’s defensive presence is very valuable to the team, and would go a long way in building a successful season in Portland.
When compared to teams like San Antonio and Los Angeles, players like Duncan , Ginobili, Parker, Bryant, and Gasol win in the experience department hands down. This lack of big time playoff experience could be a limiting factor in Portland.
Another question that comes to mind is Andre Miller’s impact on the team. The Blazers actually beat the Lakers twice last season, and Andre Miller’s presence should make the team more dangerous against LA.
If Andre Miller signs, does he bring this team into contention with the Lakers? Last season the Blazers posted a 2-2 record against the Lakers. With an improved point-guard in Miller, do the Blazers have such an overpowering advantage at the one position to beat LA?
As far as match-ups against the Lakers are concerned, Miller is stronger than LA’s point guard, but the team is mostly stronger than Portland otherwise. Portland does play well against Los Angeles, so it’ll be exciting to see what happens from here.

Imagine doing something just for the sake of doing it, you know how unsatisfying it is. It is the same when you create a business, why create something where you do not love it? Creating a business where you love what you are doing is more likely to be successful.
We then decide that we can do it. Next question is how to make our first craft show? What is the first step on doing this? How much will it cost? Where do I apply? When is the deadline? These are just some of the questions we might be asking.
When you are just starting your business it is advisable to have lesser investment costs. That is why it is better to search for craft show in you local area. Moving within you area will lessen your gas and time cost.
Once you get the schedule of craft shows and fair in you area, it would be good to distribute your goods to different location or show. Having different locations will hit more customers than just one show.
It is always the aim in creating a business to break even with you costs. That is why have less costs in the beginning is advisable. Knowing this we can then set a budget, a budget that we can work our costs around. Cost expenses like booth rent, application fees, gas and other over head expenses.
Keep in mind that keeping a uniform price from one location or show is also good. When you give different prices in different locations this will show that you are not trust worthy and some times the customer will think that you are not the one making the product.
Do research and more research about the business that you will start up. Having as much information that you can gather can give you more guidelines to making your business successful. Gather data not only about the financial benefits or needs of your business but also who your potential customers will be.
